WE DID IT!

Thanks to Another Episode’s sales, your donations, and my art commissions, we’ve raised the required $100 to get MyGF on Steam!

I’m still processing the fact that this is real. Thank you so, so much for believing in my work and MyGF. Of course, the mission is not over yet - I’ll need to do a lot of research on what’s required to get the game on Steam still.

But the financial part is over with - we’ll just have to wait until itch sends me the payout. Also:

Because of international taxes, 19 dollars out of the total acquired from purchases are not going to me. Don’t worry - I was aware of this beforehand and calculated the actual amount we’d need from Another Episode. The remaining ~40 bucks were acquired from Ko-fi purchases of the game and art commissions.

This is why I always recommend to use Ko-Fi if you want to support me, as all it takes is the paypal fee (around 3 dollars).

Something specific I need to do research on is regarding Another Episode’s availability on Steam. Ideally, I would like Another Episode to be purchasable DLC, while the original MyGF is free. But would Steam let me make an entirely separate game DLC? Or would I have to make a whole new page - meaning another 100 bucks?

This opens up the possible need to merge the two games into one, with Another Episode as DLC that is playable from the base game. I have no idea how I’d do that, as the games are functionally different and would require a lot rewriting of old code - the saving and loading system, for example - and not to mention possibly new graphics…

I would need to find (or hire) someone to do the coding part for me, as that goes beyond what I can come up with by hot-gluing bits and pieces. I’m not a coder, never have been - my games are kept together with other people’s tutorials and sheer force of will.

Anyway, this is something I need to look into.

Whew! What an adventure this has been. Now I’m off to researching what I need to do to get the game’s page on Steam ready, and how you guys can help make the release as sucessful as possible.
