A short queer story about searching for sweet winter dreams. A sequel to Overcomp, and submission to the 2023 Winter Visual Novel Jam.
I chose to interpret the jam's theme as 'Loneliness', 'Emptiness', and 'Desolation'. It's not a traditional wintertime tale, but rather one that conveys the feelings the season reminds me of.
Featuring cute pixel art, existencial dread, and a talking cactus.
Also featuring some silly minigames and guest art from friends!
HINTS:
- For the first dreams, you are limited to one pill at a time. More will open up as you progress.
- Some dreams must be played multiple times. If they don't show up in your Dream Diary, then it means there are more choices left to make.
- There is one ending, achievable from viewing every dream and taking all 10 pills. To do so, you need to have all 9 previous dreams in your diary, so try out the various choices!
- There is post-game content and some very well-hidden secrets to uncover. I challenge you to make sense of them ;)

ALRIGHT! SO!!! Fantastic game, loads of fun and tons of replay ability specifically for the minigames. I did the greatly advised against act of taking that "Aim for 99!!" with 100% seriousness and refused to listen to reason. Anyway, you scared the crap outta me by programming in a close game function after doing 100, bcuz I hadnt saved since I had done my highscore of 30 for the memory game. Anyway, here's my photographic proof.
Victory truly is sweet.
And before you become worried...I did space out my memory puzzle gimic. I did it twenty or so at a time, taking intermittent breaks to do other stuff in the game, like the puzzles or dreams. But I am insane, and to be revered and feared <3
Anyway, I didn't realise the time loop dream had anything but the song in it because I got the song my FIRST TIME FOR THAT DREAM. I DIDNT KNOW THAT WAS LIMITED EDITION !!! I DIDNT APPRECIATE THE SINGING ENOUGH </333 Srsly, you sung like an angel, in my totally unbiased happy opinion.
I only realised there was more to that dream because of your DEV log notes saying that if I didn't recognise the tune, I hadn't found all there was to that dream. . . I did recognise the tune, but i replayed the dream for the other content in there. MMMM FUN STUFF !!!
Btw, found a glitch
When you say "do another puzzle" without taking a break, uh. This happens. (screenshot taken halfway through me already doing the puzzle bcuz i felt like it)
The previous puzzle that I solved got stuck on the screen and was there until I completed the new puzzle, which then replaced that image. So yeah! Glitch found.

I still have the bonding with Komi to do, but I am currently stuck as girlie requires me to tell her what her favourite sport is............I do not know her fav sport and I am unsure of where to go to unlock that information so that would be real handy ngl,,,,,,,,
Being able to go in and choose music to vibe to is an absolute gem of a function, cheers to that. Currently vibing to the "final boss" track.
Regardless, thank you so much for creating <3 !! All your games are so unique, it's really a blast playing around with them.

Komi’s favorite sport is ⚾️. In future post-jams updates I might change that question to an easier one. Be prepared to go digging outside the game to bond with her completely though ;)
As for the puzzle bug… 😭😭😭 I’ve never seen that happen before, and I’ve played so many times… what device are you playing on?
(ALSO I saw your answer to the form, did you ever report the Raguna issue?? If you’d like, you can upload your savefile and share it with me, and I can try to fix it for you. Maybe leave a comment on the Raguna page?)

A victus windows laptop! So yeah, I don't know how it's happening either lmao. But it happened every time I didn't take a break between puzzles, the prior puzzle would get stuck.
And no, I never reported the Raguna bug. . .The laptop I played it on is no longer in my possession either, so I don't think I can retrieve the save file. . .Unless the save file is linked to account and not device? Idk, haven't tried games I've got save files on yet. But I assume not. Appreciate the offering to help though <33

Recentemente joguei esse jogo com alguns amigos e depois baixei para jogar novamente, e com certeza é um jogo muito bom!!
Após ter jogado o My GF, esse jogo aqui se mostra bem mais autoral. Consegui te ver pegando suas referências em Visual Novel e dando seu próprio toque, gerando seu próprio estilo, algo que vimos meio de relance em My GF (mas é uma VN muito boa , ainda sim).
A progressão do jogo, a idéia de prosseguir usando os comprimidos para selecionar o capitulo, como o primeiro sonho te faz achar que vai ser uma vn "normal", os quebra cabeças e menus, tudo muito bem feito!! O time loop, o "pós-game", tudo muito bom!!
Aqui na minha cidade temos um Clube de Cultura Pop, e nós estudamos Renpy por conta para fazer jogos próprios e depois apresentar em um festival que nós promovemos. Nós fizemos várias VN's, e depois de penar para aprender muita coisa, eu consigo ficar ainda mais impressionado com o seu jogo e principalmente com a evolução que teve. Muita coisa deve ter dado muito trabalho, mas ficou muito bem executado!! A ultima cena é uma sacada muito boa.
Em relação a história, me lembrou muito do jogo The Begginer's Guide, seguindo o conceito de vários jogos/seções separadas que contam uma única história. Sua escrita está ainda melhor (embora ainda possa melhorar), e os conceitos que você aborda são pesados e relevantes, e você faz a abordagem muito bem, na medida certa de exposição e simbolismo. Fica uma impressão de ser algo mais puxado para a autobiografia, mas independente de esse ser o caso ou não, todas as mensagens e temas foram muito bem expressadas, achei fantástico a franqueza e as diferentes abordagens, além é claro de a estética sempre mudando e as diferentes temáticas escolhidas para passar a mensagem de cada sonho.
Muitos temas filosóficos e de natureza existencial, e eu acredito que cada sonho consegue produzir uma discussão muito boa e uma análise bem legal. O jeito que você conta a história e a subversão de tema e expectativa funciona muito bem, eu sempre ficava ansioso para descobrir como seria o próximo sonho, e confesso que até mesmo fiquei tenso enquanto jogava alguns. Principalmente o ultimo e, por algum motivo, a Komi me encarando (fiquei esperando um jumpscare nesse)
Muitos temas são de carater introspectivo e é dificil não ter empatia com algumas cenas, e acho que isso é verdade para todos que jogaram. Imagino que muita coisa ali pode ter sido até dificil de escrever sobre, mas foi muito bem executado.
Também quero elogiar a arte e a musica, todas as artes são muito bonitas e os sprites tem um estilo bem legal. As transições de musica também foram muito bem escolhidas e elas casam bem com as cenas.
No geral, 10/10. Trabalho sensacional e que com certeza me deixa esperando por mais produções suas no futuro!!
Oh, hey, I got to Dream #11! 87% completion (stuck on the universe question) and did 20 memory matching games.
What a varied mix of stuff. Pretty impressive for a jam entry. Little close to home with the Mirror, Lover, and the end of Cacty dreams :sus:. I also filled out the feedback form and sent you an e-mail with a list of typos I saw (hopefully it's not in Junk). Looking forward to future games!

The friends universe question is a… COLLABorative… easter egg. This last set of secrets asks the player to take it beyond the game itself to find the key ;)

Okay, realized what that was hinting at but then got stuck at the mirror. Tried a bunch of names, some with different responses, but ultimately had to cheat to get past it and obtain 100% (don't hate me! :( )
